Soma Gosh på Hijazz
Thuesday 6 okt kl 20, Olof Palmes plats 2 UPPSALA

As the first woman ever to perform in the "Parliament of India" is soma today one of India
most renowned singers. With his deep spiritual singing technique she pulls us
on a journey of emotions. Here she offers on Indian traditional music with new influences



She is accompanied by Pradip Ghosh - tabla, pakhavaj, Krishna Mohan - traditional percussion,
Sandeep Mishra - sarangi, Dnyaneshwar Sonawane - harmonium.

Odissi - Indian classical dance with Edith Humble

Odissi is a classical Indian temple dance full of mystery and attractive appeal based on Indian myths. A flow between the graceful, enigmatic, dramatic and powerful in its design. Rhythmic steps and hand gestures characterize dance woven together with the music.

Shantala Subramanyam Group

Shantala play venu - bamboo flute.
She is one of India's few young female flautists touring both throughout India, Europe and the United States.

Today she is recognized and has been hailed by music critics for their performances that are both melodic and complex rhythmic.

With her Vishaal Sapuram on chitravina and
Akshay Anantapadmanabhan on South Indian hand drum mridangam.

Indian Movie - Engish Vinglish
A dramacomedy from 2012, written and directed by Gauri Shinde

The film's story revolves around a housewife who is studying at an English speaking course in order to stop her husband's and daughter's mocking of her lack of knowledge of English, and get self-respect
in the process.
